What Do You Expect from Life?

Find peace in all the ebbs and flows of lifeAre you expecting things in life to always go well, for you to always feel good, loved, and supported? Or maybe you’re expecting the opposite as you’re in the middle of a storm and expect things to remain the same?

I get you because I’ve been there. I often like to share either from my past experiences or something I’m currently experiencing. This week, I haven’t been feeling my best and I’ve found peace in knowing that it’s all part of life. I know it won’t remain the same and I’ll be feeling like my energetic self soon.

I’ve been reading Dr. Wayne’s Dyer’s book, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life based on the Wisdom of The Tao and he shared this beautiful reminder that there is a time for everything in life. Here’s what I wrote based on that particular verse where he talks about this:

There’s a time to be happy, to feel safe, loved, supported, to be comfortable, feel like I got this, I’m ahead and there’s a time to be sad, feel threatened, unloved, not supported, lost, behind, and not sure what to do next.

It’s all part of living especially living fully.

The thing is you often think that everything is suppose to work out all the time and when it doesn’t you might lose it, get anxious, upset, depressed…but that’s not how life works and actually it is thinking that it’s suppose to be a particular way that makes you experience more stress, anxiety, and suffering.

Now do allow yourself to feel all your emotions, that’s important. Just don’t dwell there.

I recall my relationship coach telling me once when I was having a hard time getting over an ex and coming to terms with the way things had transpired between us, he told me that I can feel my pain, sadness, and anger without suffering. I was reminded that I have a choice.

Sharing with you the advice I’ve given myself many times and this week as well.
